Broadway Partners, the British fibre provider that entered administration in May this year, could be rescued by a consortium comprising Tiger Infrastructure Partners and Macquarie, Sky News reports. If the deal comes to fruition, it will represent the first co-investment in a British fibre provider undertaken by Macquarie and Tiger.
Macquarie already owns a stake in fixed wireless specialist Voneus, while Tiger is a backer of Rural Broadband Solutions Holdings, which operates under the SWS Broadband brand. As per the report, the acquisition is expected to be structured as a takeover by Voneus.
Broadway Partners was launched in 2016, with a focus on extending fibre to rural areas in Scotland and Wales. The company had previously set a target of connecting 250,000 homes and businesses by 2025.
