Liberty Latin America rebrands C&W Networks, C&W Business units as Liberty Networks

16 May 2023

Liberty Latin America (LLA) has unveiled plans to rebrand its C&W Networks and C&W Business units under the unified Liberty Networks brand. The enlarged company will focus on the continued development of its critical infrastructure platform serving carriers, hyper-scalers, and enterprise segments in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Liberty Networks plans to invest a minimum of USD250 million in the region over the next five years as it extends and upgrades its terrestrial and subsea reach and increases the capacity of its cloud and security offerings. The company’s networks span approximately 40 countries and comprise nearly 50,000km of submarine fibre-optic cable and 17,000km of terrestrial networks.

TeleGeography notes that C&W Networks and C&W Business were acquired when UK-based Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) was taken over by Liberty Global in a USD7.4 billion deal agreed in November 2015. The acquisition closed in May 2016. LLA was established in December 2017.
