Cox acquires remainder of Unite Private Networks from Ridgemont Equity

16 May 2023

US cableco Cox Communications has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the remaining interest in Unite Private Networks (UPN) from co-owner Ridgemont Equity Partners. In recent years, Cox has invested in B2B companies such as Segra and managed cloud services provider Logicworks. Acquiring the remaining interest in UPN supports that ongoing focus, the company notes. Cox became the majority owner of UPN in 2016. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions and is expected to close by 30 June.

Cox Communications President Mark Greatrex commented: ‘We will bring UPN and Segra together to create a new, standalone company that continues to offer our customers a broad portfolio of commercial business services.’

UPN provides fibre-optic connectivity to schools, governments, carriers, data centres, hospitals and enterprise business customers. It currently serves over 300 communities across 21 states, with 12,000 fibre route miles and 9,500 end customer sites.
