Telefonica Colombia (Movistar) has announced that it passed the one million fibre broadband subscriptions milestone earlier this month. The telco’s fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network now spans 21,000km across 51 municipalities, including the likes of Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cartagena, Villavicencio, Ibague, Cucuta, Santa Marta and Neiva. Of the 198,000 subscriptions served by B2B unit Movistar Empresas, 123,000 are served by fibre, the company added. Going forward, fibre connectivity will be extended to a further 17 municipalities by end-2023.
