AT&T Communications and BlackRock, through a fund managed by its Diversified Infrastructure business, have closed their joint venture to form Gigapower. Going forward, AT&T and BlackRock will jointly own and govern Gigapower.
Further, AT&T Fiber says it has commenced serving end-users in Mesa, Arizona via Gigapower’s commercial wholesale open access platform. The initial list of Gigapower rollout locations includes Las Vegas, alongside Chandler and Gilbert in Arizona. Gigapower also plans to build fibre in parts of North-eastern Pennsylvania (including Wilkes-Barre and Scranton) as well as parts of Alabama and Florida that are outside AT&T’s current service areas.
