Play of Poland has reportedly chosen Nokia and Huawei as equipment partners for its GPON fibre network rollout. A report from Telko.in says the contracts were agreed some time ago but not publicised.
Play completed its acquisition of cableco UPC Poland in April 2022, before going on to split its infrastructure into a standalone company, Polish Open Fibre (Polski Swiatlowod Otwarty [PSO]), and selling a 50% stake to InfraVia Capital Partners. The partners aim to add another two million homes to the existing network footprint of more than 3.7 million homes over an unspecified period thanks to a PLN5.8 billion (USD1.4 billion) loan agreed with a consortium of banks in early 2023.
