Deutsche Telekom (DT) now holds a majority stake in T-Mobile US, CEO Tim Hoettges confirmed at the company’s annual general meeting on 5 April. Reuters quotes the chief executive as saying: ‘We have the majority and are the largest shareholder of the world’s most valuable telecommunications company – T-Mobile US’. Reports have indicated that DT’s stake has increased to 50.2%, up from 48.4%.
A Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing from T-Mobile US (dated 4 April), meanwhile, breaks the shareholding down as follows: DT Holding: 538.591 million shares of common stock; Deutsche Telekom: 66.520 million shares; Project 6 (a wholly-owned subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp): 39.772 million shares; and Claure Mobile (owned by former Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure): 5.000 million shares. In total, these shares equate to a 53.9% stake, the paperwork indicates.
