TAURON completes fibre rollout

Polish energy firm TAURON has completed the first phase of its fibre-optic network rollout under the state-backed Operational Programme Digital Poland (Programu Operacyjnego Polska Cyfrowa, POPC). A report from Telko.in says TAURON has rolled out infrastructure past 104,000 households in 876 towns and has connected 428 educational buildings. The company is now hoping to win further government-subsidised contracts under the POPC scheme, which was established to improve broadband connectivity in underserved rural areas of Poland.
