Ucell gives selected users three months unlimited 5G usage

17 Mar 2023

Uzbek mobile operator Ucell has introduced a 5G promotion for customers on its ‘Doimiy’ (‘Permanent’) standard tariffs, enabling unlimited internet access on its fledgling 5G network for three months. The promotion is free of charge for Permanent 50, Permanent 70, Permanent 100 and Permanent 150 tariff plans; an activation fee of UZS2,000 (USD0.17) is charged for Permanent 20 and Permanent 35 subscriptions.

TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that Ucell announced the launch of 5G mobile network services in the central business district (CBD) of Tashkent in April 2021, since when expansion progress has been tentative: by end-October 2022 five zones including the CBD were live in the capital plus 20 5G base stations in Samarkand (following the start of testing in that city in August).
