Spirent picked by DOCOMO for Open RAN testing

Spirent Communications, which provides test and assurance solutions for next generation devices and networks, has announced that Japanese telco NTT DOCOMO is using its technology for 5G Open RAN Ecosystem (OREC) testing. The latter is testing Open RAN for multi-vendor interoperability and the vendor claims its solutions provide ‘the most comprehensive library of 5G testing features and functions, while they can also scale in terms of users and performance’. Further, the OREC project takes advantage of DOCOMO’s expertise and the capabilities of major global vendors and promotes the interoperability and commercialisation of vRAN solutions conforming to the O-RAN Alliance standards, it said.
