Zefiro blows into Italy

Italian fixed and mobile operators WINDTRE and Iliad have launched their rural 5G network joint venture (JV) under the name Zefiro. The pair aim to roll out shared infrastructure covering an area which is home to 26.8% of Italy’s population. Under plans previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, around 6,600 radio sites will be transferred by WINDTRE to the JV, as well as 570 transmission sites and 380 repeaters.
