Azercell, Azerbaijan’s largest mobile network operator (MNO) by subscriptions, launched trial 5G mobile services in Baku on 27 December. Customers with compatible Huawei, Xiaomi, OnePlus and Poco smartphones can now access download speeds of up to 1Gbps in the Fountains Square area of the capital using their existing data packages. The operator notes Apple and Samsung handsets will be enabled once the necessary software updates and permits have been issued. As part of the launch campaign, all Azercell customers accessing the 5G network before 31 January will receive a 5GB mobile data pack valid for 30 days.
