1&1 launches 5G home broadband service

3 Jan 2023

1&1 has announced the launch of its 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) home broadband service for residential customers. The new offering is aimed at replacing conventional fixed line DSL, fibre-optic or cable-based connections and can provide maximum download speeds of 500Mbps and upload rates of 40Mbps. Three ‘1&1 5G zu Hause’ tariffs are available, priced at EUR19.99 (USD21.3) per month including 50GB of data, EUR29.99 for 100GB and EUR39.99 per month for a data allowance of 250GB. The 5G service is not yet designed for mobile use but is instead available at the customer’s place of residence via a choice of two WLAN routers. It is currently available in Frankfurt and Karlsruhe but the 1&1 5G zu Hause network will be gradually expanded to other regions in the next few weeks.
