Telekom FTTH network reaches over 5m homes

19 Dec 2022

Telekom Deutschland (TD), the domestic operating unit of Deutsche Telekom (DT), says it increased fixed broadband speeds for an additional 428,000 households in November. The firm revealed that 35 million homes can access maximum data rates of up to 100Mbps and the number of 250Mbps-enabled lines has reached more than 28 million nationwide. In addition, TD states that the total number of households passed by its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network rose by 377,000 last month, to 5.1 million, enabling maximum speeds of up to 1Gbps. Since the beginning of the year, 4.8 million households have benefited from TD’s upgrade and expansion work.

‘The figures show that we are the broadband engine in Germany – for fixed network and mobile communications,’ stated Walter Goldenits, Managing Director Technology at TD, adding: ‘We offer fast internet for millions and not top speed for just a few. And we do it with the best network quality.’
