DELTA Fiber Nederland has made its fibre-optic access network in Zeeland available to other operators on an open network basis, with services from the following 14 providers becoming available to subscribers in the region across DELTA’s fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) footprint: Kliksafe, Online.nl, Solcon, MultiFiber, Freedom, PlinQ, GlasNet and Libernet (in the residential segment) plus Enreach, Infopact, Helden Van Nu, NG-BLU, Matrix and Weserve (in the B2B market). COO Albert Vergeer commented in a press release: ‘We have been working hard for several years now on the rollout of the latest generation of fibre-optic in our home province. With our open network, we now also offer freedom of choice in Zeeland via our fibre-optic network.’
The Zeeland fibre network currently covers over 75,000 premises in neighbourhoods in Arnemuiden, Breskens, Goes, Hulst, Kapelle, Kloetinge, Krabbendijke, Kruiningen, Middelburg, Nieuw-en Sint Joosland, Oost-Souburg, Sint Laurens, Terneuzen, Vlissingen and Zierikzee. DELTA is continuing FTTH deployment in 23 other locations in Zeeland, with 100,000 households scheduled to be covered by the start of 2023, or more than half of the total addresses in the region. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that before DELTA switched focus to direct fibre, it covered more than 90% of Zeeland homes with a HFC cable broadband network.
The wider DELTA Fiber Nederland network now reaches more than one million households and businesses, and is growing by 8,000 premises per week. DELTA Fiber’s ambition is to provide as many households and businesses as possible with access to a fast internet connection and to grow to two million premises passed in 2025.
