The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced a further extension to a public inquiry on a review of the Mandatory Standard on Access Pricing (MSAP). With the regulator having launched the public inquiry back in October 2022, it announced later that same month that it was pushing back the deadline for submissions to 3 January 2023, from an original date of 21 November 2022. Now, the MCMC has once more announced a delay – again without giving a reason for its decision – and the public inquiry will now close on 17 January 2023.
As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, the MCMC’s public inquiry paper set out its preliminary views on which facilities and services in the Access List should be subject to price regulation. It is seeking feedback from interested parties on several specific issues, including its approach to developing economic cost models for specific services, particularly on use of the long run incremental cost (LRIC) methodology.
