Congolese tax authority the Directorate General of Taxes (La Direction Generale des Impots, DGI) is seeking to recover a combined total of USD572 million in tax arrears it claims are owed by three of the nation’s cellcos, Agence Ecofin writes. The DGI has reportedly accused Airtel DRC, Orange DRC and Vodacom Congo (DRC) of evading taxes in 2016-2019 and claims that the trio owe USD260 million, USD147 million and USD165 million, respectively.
