Claro launches FTTH on the island of San Andres

8 Dec 2022

Claro Colombia has announced that it has launched fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services on the Caribbean island of San Andres. Locals can expect to receive download speeds of up to 200Mbps as a result of the rollout. The telco notes that the launch has been enabled by the 727km extension of the America Movil Submarine Cable System-1 (AMX-1) to San Andres, which took place in December 2021 and cost USD15 million to deploy. The island is situated to the north-west of the Colombian mainland.
