Poland’s digital divide scheme passes 1.3m homes

7 Dec 2022

The Polish government’s Operational Programme Digital Poland (Programu Operacyjnego Polska Cyfrowa, POPC) has so far deployed broadband infrastructure past more than 1.3 million households. The scheme eventually aims to provide connectivity to 2.2 million premises in rural areas, guaranteeing a minimum 30Mbps service. Telko.in notes that 78,722km of fibre network has been deployed under the project to date. Networks are being rolled out by firms under a series of tenders, and infrastructure is then made available to third-party service providers on a wholesale basis.
