KT Corp records 4.2% revenue growth in 3Q22

South Korea’s KT Corp has reported an operating revenue of KRW6.477 trillion (USD4.65 billion) for the quarter ended 30 September 2022, representing year-on-year growth of 4.2%, with service revenue rising by 6.3%, to KRW5.745 trillion. Handset revenue was, however, down 10.1% on an annualised basis in Q3 2022, at KRW732 billion. In addition, the company booked EBITDA of KRW1.360 trillion for 3Q22, up from KRW1.278 trillion in the corresponding period a year earlier, while operating income rose by 18.4% y-o-y to KRW453 billion. Net income for the quarter under review totalled KRW326 billion, however, down 3.4% from the KRW338 billion reported for 3Q21.

With regards to operational highlights, KT Corp reported a mobile subscription base of 23.827 million as of 30 September 2022, up from 22.735 million a year earlier. Of the most recent figure 7.962 million subscriptions were 5G, up from 5.617 million. Monthly mobile ARPU was KRW32,917, up from KRW31.815 in the third quarter of 2021.

In the fixed sector, meanwhile, KT had a total of 9.679 million fixed broadband subscriptions on its books as of 30 September 2022, up 2.6% y-o-y, while pay-TV subscriptions rose by 3.0%, to 9.399 million. Fixed voice subscriptions remained on a downward trajectory, however, falling to 12.709 million at the end of the reporting period, from 13.218 million a year earlier.
