Belarusian mobile network operators Belarusian Telecommunications Network (BeST, life:)) and MTS Belarus have revealed details of their latest 4G service rollouts in the country. The latter announced that since the start of this month it has switched on 18 new LTE-800 and LTE-1800 base stations, as well as 25 additional LTE-2600 sectors to improve service coverage in the Brest, Minsk and Vitebsk regions. Meanwhile, BeST has announced that it plans to extend its 4G LTE footprint to more than 100 locations this month in the Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel and Mogilev regions, as well as in the capital Minsk and the wider Minsk region. Most of the new 4G base stations will operate on the 800MHz band – given its wider range in terms of signal coverage – and by the end of 2022 BeST said it aims to upgrade/install up to 220 base stations in the LTE-800 and LTE-1800 bands.
Both cellcos are working with the country’s state-owned, unified LTE infrastructure operator Belarusian Cloud Technologies (beCloud) to roll out their 4G services.
