A public inquiry on a review of the Mandatory Standard on Access Pricing (MSAP) has been extended by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Having announced the launch of the inquiry earlier this month, the regulator had initially set a deadline of 21 November 2022 for submissions but has now confirmed the closing date has been pushed back to 3 January 2023. No reason for this extension was given, however.
As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate the MCMC’s public inquiry paper released earlier this month set out its preliminary views on which facilities and services in the Access List should be subject to price regulation. It is seeking feedback from interested parties on several specific issues, including its approach to developing economic cost models for specific services, particularly on use of the long run incremental cost (LRIC) methodology.
