Croatian company Odasiljaci i veze (OiV) says it expects to begin its HRK770 million (USD99 million) rollout of fibre backbone infrastructure in mid-2023, with completion of the project due in 2025. The 5,300km deployment is part of the government subsidised National Programme for the Development of Shared Broadband Infrastructure (NP-BBI), which aims to help provide internet connectivity in underserved and unserved rural areas. The scheme is 85% funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), with the remainder coming from the state budget.
