Iliad Italy has signed a wholesale fibre agreement with Fastweb, allowing it to expand its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service footprint. Iliad says that, thanks to the new deal and its existing fibre wholesale arrangements, it is expecting to cover more than ten million homes across Italy by the start of 2023. Iliad launched fixed broadband access in January this year, adding to its mobile services which were introduced in May 2018.
For its part, Fastweb says wholesale partners are now serving around 400,000 customers on its networks, a more than 100% increase in twelve months. Fastweb aims to have deployed FTTH infrastructure past 14.5 million premises by 2025.
