Texas-based fixed wireless access (FWA) operator Nextlink Internet has signed an agreement with Tarana which will see the companies bring reliable, low-latency gigabit broadband services to a number of unserved and underserved communities in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin. Nextlink hopes to extend connectivity to hundreds of rural counties over the next several years, with as many as 250,000 households receiving access. Nextlink is using Tarana’s FWA G1 platform, but notes that it expects to fulfil its Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) obligations via a combination of fibre and FWA solutions.
