Media and telecoms firm United Group says it plans to invest EUR2 billion (USD2.01 billion) in its Greek operation Nova-Wind over the next five years. The group plans to install a 10Gbps fibre-optic network which will pass 4.5 million potential residential customers and businesses, according to a statement from Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
He said: ‘Let me once again express my satisfaction for this very important investment that you are announcing today, through Nova, in the digital upgrade of the country. It will allow us to quickly bridge an important gap that we have long pointed out, to provide very high speeds at affordable prices to millions of Greek households and of course to further stimulate competition in the market.’
United Group owns pay-TV and fixed broadband provider Nova, plus fixed and mobile operator Wind Hellas.
