National Broadband Ireland (NBI), the company rolling out a new high speed fibre broadband network under the Government’s National Broadband Plan (NBP), has released details of a number of new locations where services over its infrastructure can be ordered or pre-ordered. Specifically, NBI confirmed that 3,808 premises in Ballina and Castlebar (both in County Mayo) can now order a service, while a further 1,511 premises in Carrowmorelacken have now begun the construction phase. Meanwhile, with the network rollout also expanding across County Galway, almost 2,500 premises in Gort can now order or a pre-order a service offered over NBI’s network, bringing the total number of premises across the county that can be served to more than 5,000.
Also of note, NBI has announced that the first premises in County Sligo have been successfully connected to its infrastructure. With up to 15,000 premises in that county included in the State’s ‘Intervention Area’, almost 2,500 homes and business can now place an order for a service offered by one of NBI’s retail service provider partners.
