Indonesian operator Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) is broadening its service portfolio with the launch of a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service, branded Indosat HiFi, as it looks to capitalise on growing demand for high speed internet access at home. With the country’s Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Johnny G Plate, noting that the digital economy was estimated at USD70 billion in 2021 and is forecast to reach USD146 billion in 2025 and USD315.5 billion by 2030, IOH confirmed the launch of the new service – promising speeds of up to 100Mbps with prices starting from IDR245,000 (USD16.5) per month – initially in the Jabodetabek, Yogyakarta and Surabaya regions.
