DT aims to increase T-Mobile stake to 50% before 2024

Deutsche Telekom (DT) is on course to achieve a majority stake in T-Mobile US ahead of its previous projection of 2024, CEO Timotheus Hoettges has revealed. According to Reuters, the executive has indicated that raising the group’s stake in the cellco above 50% is its most important strategic priority at present.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, in April 2022 DT paid USD2.4 billion for an additional 1.6% stake held by SoftBank Group Corp, increasing its stake to 48.4%. The German group has a call option to acquire another 2.9% stake from SoftBank, which will expire in 2024.
