MegaCom claims first Kyrgyz 5G test; pilot service to follow

Kyrgyzstan’s mobile market leader MegaCom reported on its website that it has completed the country’s first 5G network tests, claiming that the technology will be available to subscribers ‘in the near future’. The tests in the Bishkek region achieved 5G data speeds of up to 1.8Gbps, with the state-owned cellco indicating that it will soon offer 5G network access on a pre-commercial pilot basis to compatible device users. The company’s release stated: ‘In the near future, MegaCom subscribers will have the opportunity to test the new generation 5G network … After completing the pilot tests of the 5G network … MegaCom plans to offer all subscribers high-speed internet and communication services.’
