British broadband provider TalkTalk has announced that it has entered into an agreement to buy SSE Phone & Broadband from OVO Energy. In a press release regarding the matter, TalkTalk noted that all of SSE Phone & Broadbands subscriptions will be transferred to it ‘from the Autumn’. Meanwhile, as per the deal SSE, which previously owned SSE Phone & Broadband prior to its sale to OVO Energy in 2020, has reportedly given its permission for the brand to continue to be used until April 2023, in order to ‘support a smooth transition to TalkTalk’. Completion of the transaction is expected to take place in the autumn of 2022. No financial details were disclosed.
Commenting on the deal, a TalkTalk spokesperson said: ‘We are delighted to be welcoming SSE Phone & Broadband customers and team to TalkTalk this autumn. As the country’s only scale affordable provider, we look forward to providing our high-quality service at the best possible value.’
