Azerbaijan state-owned operator AzTelekom has announced fibre broadband connections are now available in the villages of Ivanovka and Lahic following the expansion of its GPON network in Ismaylii District. More than 19km of fibre-optic cabling has been deployed in Ivanovka and around 8km in Lahic, providing residents with access to download speeds of up to 100Mbps. The company is now working to extend coverage to ten surrounding villages.
AzTelekom has also announced that its CDMA fixed wireless telephony service will be discontinued on 31 August, due to the technology’s ‘significant obsolescence’. Subscribers have been invited to explore the company’s range of alternative services.
