Disappointing H1 for HTHKH

1 Aug 2022

Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong Holdings (HTHKH), which runs mobile networks in Hong Kong and Macau, has reported revenues of HKD2.30 billion (USD293 million) for the first half of 2022, down from HKD2.57 billion in H1 2021. The firm put the drop down to ‘challenging operational uncertainties’ amid the latest series of measures to combat COVID-19. EBITDA dropped 7% to HKD695 million, while loss attributable to shareholders stood at HKD96 million, reversing a profit of HKD31 million in the first half of 2021.

HTHKH had 3.0 million subscriptions in Hong Kong and Macau at the end of June 2022, down from 3.2 million a year earlier due to the ongoing SIM registration push in Hong Kong.
