Get a room: Zain and Huawei jump into bed with FTTR

29 Jul 2022

Zain Kuwait has announced the upcoming launch of fibre-to-the-room (FTTR) technology based on a solution provided by Huawei. Zain says FTTR will offer stable internet connection of up to 1Gbps in all rooms of a house, including large homes with multiple floors and basements, while it is ‘preparing to commercially launch the service soon after finalising all the official regulatory requirements.’ Zain CTO Nawaf Al-Gharabally declared: ‘FTTR offers the needed foundation to empower smart homes and enrich a digital lifestyle, as it complements our existing Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service and expands optical fibres to each room and floor in a house with a unique design and high-quality execution. FTTR supports Wi-Fi 6 and guarantees consistent speeds of up to 1Gbps across the house, resulting in a seamless internet experience in every room and floor.’
