CamTel signs broadband infrastructure deal with housing ministry

20 Jul 2022

State-owned fixed and mobile operator CamTel has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to deploy fixed broadband infrastructure and services to new housing projects to promote urban infrastructure development. Journal du Cameroun reports that CamTel has agreed to equip new urban areas, including Olembe and Banga-Bakoko, with telecoms services. ‘As the incumbent operator, we have the responsibility to provide telecommunications services of high level connectivity so it is important that we do anticipate and make sure that we provide these services to the community and don’t wait before the structures are built before we provide these services,’ commented CamTel’s Director General Judith Yah Sunday Achidi.
