700MHz band free for TIM, Vodafone and Iliad 5G

Italian operators TIM, Vodafone and Iliad are now able to use 700MHz frequencies in their 5G networks following the completion of the process by television broadcasters to vacate the band. The trio of operators acquired rights to the spectrum at auction in September 2018; the country’s other main mobile provider, WINDTRE, did not secure 700MHz frequencies. The band was previously used for digital terrestrial TV services. The 700MHz range is important in 5G rollouts as it offers a wide footprint and improved in-building coverage.
