EU antitrust regulators to rule on Orange, VOO deal by 28 July

24 Jun 2022

Orange Belgium’s bid for a majority stake in cable operator VOO will be decided by EU antitrust regulators by 28 July, a European Commission filing has revealed. On Wednesday the companies sought EU approval for Orange’s proposed purchase of 75% minus one share of its rival, which would give it control of VOO’s high speed broadband network covering the Wallonia region and part of the Brussels area. The EU competition authority can clear the deal with or without remedies after its preliminary review or it can open a four-month investigation if it has serious concerns.
