Company formed by ex-MGTS CEO acquires Crimean cellcos

IC Invest, a Russian company founded by Pavel Kuznetsov, the former CEO of Moscow-based telco MGTS (part of Mobile TeleSystems [MTS]), has acquired two mobile operators in the Russian-occupied Crimea peninsula, namely K-Telecom (WIN Mobile) and KTK-Telecom (Volna Mobile), CNews reported. Both the acquired companies had previously been owned via Armenian investment firms.

K-Telecom is reportedly now selling its SIM cards in Russian-occupied territory in the Ukrainian region of Kherson which borders Crimea as well as occupied parts of the Zaporozhye region to the east of Kherson.
