Magenta enables 5G for all smartphone tariffs

21 Jun 2022

Full-service provider Magenta Telekom, which was formed in 2019 from the merger of mobile operator T-Mobile Austria and cableco UPC Austria, is enabling 5G access across all of its smartphone tariffs. The Mobile S, M and L plans all now include 5G as standard and the data volume has also been increased by 5GB while the price remains the same. Available at more than 2,000 locations, Magenta’s 5G network currently reaches half of all Austrian households and businesses, with coverage set to increase to 55% by the end of the year. Overall, Magenta is investing EUR1 billion in the expansion of its fixed and mobile networks by 2025.

Bruno Duarte, CCO Consumer at Magenta Telekom, commented: ‘Three years ago, Magenta was a 5G pioneer with Austria’s first 5G network. Today we are making history again for our customers by making 5G the new standard in our current Magenta smartphone tariffs S, M and L. This goes hand in hand with the rapidly increasing availability of our 5G network, as well as 5G smartphones, the selection of which is constantly becoming more diverse and cheaper. We are proud to be driving digitisation and connecting people with the full 5G offering. The best 5G experience has become even more accessible to all customers on the Magenta network.’
