Elisa launches 5G in Estonia using new 3.5GHz licence

21 Jun 2022

Elisa Estonia has used its newly awarded 3.5GHz spectrum to introduce its first 5G services. 5G connectivity is currently only available to home and office users in fixed wireless mode, with full mobile services to be introduced in the fourth quarter. By the end of the year the operator aims to cover half of Estonia’s population with its 5G network. Elisa won the first of three available 3.5GHz concessions in the government’s ongoing spectrum auction earlier this month. Telia, Tele2 and Bite Group are left to battle it out over the remaining two permits.
