TIM Brasil has reportedly opened up its network to the Oi Movel subscriptions it acquired in April 2022. The acquired accounts are understood to be spread over 29 area codes in 17 states and the Federal District (Distrito Federal). The process has occurred ahead of TIM Brasil’s original 6 July schedule. The next part of the process will see Oi’s network disconnected and the infrastructure repurposed and the spectrum refarmed. The final stage of the ‘systematic integration’ will focus on a unification of tariffs and billing.
In December 2020 TIM – alongside rival operators Vivo and Claro – agreed to acquire Oi’s mobile assets, as part of a BRL15.922 billion (USD3.425 billion) deal. TIM paid 44% of the total fee. This gave it access to 14.5 million Oi mobile subscriptions (around 40% of the total), 49MHz of spectrum (54%) and 7,200 cell sites (49%). The transaction closed on 20 April 2022.
