Metronet enlists Nokia for XGS-PON upgrade

US ISP Metronet – which describes itself as ‘the largest independently owned, 100% fibre-optic network provider in the US’ – is rolling out Nokia’s XGS-PON platform as it seeks to deliver 10Gbps speeds to its fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) customers. The ISP says it is rolling out XGS-PON in eight new markets with more communities planned.

Launched in 2005, Metronet now has a presence in more than 250 communities across Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Texas, Wisconsin, Missouri, Colorado, New Mexico and Louisiana.
