Jazz partners with Nayatel to connect sites with fibre

30 May 2022

Pakistani cellco Jazz has signed an agreement with fibre-based broadband provider Nayatel to connect all of its mobile sites in Lahore to fibre. The programme is expected to be completed by December 2022. In a press release from the provider, Jazz noted that the upgrade would improve capacity, reduce latency and enhance network availability. Further, the development paves the way for future technologies, such as 5G, which require low latency and high backhaul throughput. Jazz is aiming to increase the proportion of its sites that are connected to fibre to 70% over the next five years.

Commenting on the deal, Jazz CTO Khlid Shehzad was quoted as saying: ‘Digital transformation across the country increasingly requires high-bandwidth solutions with the demand for data and speed increasing exponentially. Fiberisation showcases our commitment to delivering a consistently fast and reliable internet solution; and is crucial if we are to build a digital ecosystem which compliments the users evolving lifestyle needs.’
