Proximus to open 5G network to more customers

20 May 2022

Androidworld reports that Proximus is expanding access to 5G for its post-paid subscriptions. The operator has informed customers with a ‘Mobile Flex’ subscription – to be renamed ‘Mobile Flex S’ – that they will have access to 5G at no extra cost from 1 July, although throughput speeds on the network will be capped at 100Mbps – slightly lower than transfer rates on the operator’s 4G network under optimal conditions. Proximus has stressed it has no plans to reduce bandwidth for Mobile Flex S subscriptions, and that the 5G service will work in areas with outdated 4G infrastructure, while customers will continue to use 4G where the network supports speeds over 100Mbps.
