Italian mobile network operators (MNOs) WINDTRE and TIM have announced the latest expansions to their respective 5G networks. WINDTRE says its 5G TDD system now reaches 56.6% of the country’s population using 3.5GHz spectrum. Meanwhile, its slower 5G FDD network covers 95.7% of the population, utilising dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) in the 1800MHz and 2.6GHz bands.
Separately, TIM has published the latest update to its own 5G coverage list, with services now available in the cities of Bari and Padua, as well as another 16 new locations across the country. TIM says speeds of up to 2Gbps are attainable on its 5G network.
