VodafoneZiggo covers six million premises with gigabit access

18 May 2022

VodafoneZiggo announced yesterday that its gigabit-capable fixed broadband network now passes more than six million end-user premises across the Netherlands. The milestone came with the addition of 25,000 homes and businesses in Hoogeveen to the gigabit network footprint, and the operator says that it will expand gigabit technology to its entire network in the course of 2022.

VodafoneZiggo is deploying DOCSIS 3.1 technology across its HFC (hybrid fibre-coaxial) network, currently allowing a download speed of up to 1Gbps, upgradeable to 10Gbps within a few years, while upload speeds will also increase over time. ‘Ziggo’ triple-play subscriptions give access to 1Gbps download/50Mbps upload speeds plus an extensive TV channel package via the interactive Mediabox Next, Ziggo Movies & Series XL, Ziggo Sport Totaal, Ziggo GO app and a landline telephone connection.

TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database shows that the VodafoneZiggo DOCSIS 3.1 footprint has doubled since January 2021 when it reached three million premises.
