TIM and Open Fiber sign rural network pact

Telecom Italia (TIM) and Open Fiber have inked a EUR230 million (USD240 million) agreement regarding infrastructure sharing in rural areas of Italy. The deal involves TIM’s last-mile networks venture FiberCop, which is part-owned by US investment firm KKR. Open Fiber will gain access to TIM’s network assets in sparsely populated regions. TIM and Open Fiber have been in negotiations for some time about a wider merger of their networks businesses.
