Mobile Vikings to enter fixed broadband market

4 May 2022

Following its acquisition by Proximus last year, Belgian MVNO Mobile Vikings has announced plans to launch VDSL and fibre-optic fixed broadband services next month. From 14 June customers will be able to choose from two connections providing an unlimited data allowance and downlink/uplink speeds of either 100Mbps/40Mbps via VDSL (EUR38 per month [USD50]) or 1Gbps/500Mbps over fibre (EUR55), with a EUR3 per month discount applied when combined with a mobile subscription. Unlike parent Proximus and fellow subsidiary Scarlet, Mobile Vikings has opted to target so-called ‘cord-cutters’ and does not offer customers the option to combine broadband access with a fixed voice line and digital TV subscription. The company has invited a thousand existing customers to take part in a test phase ahead of the commercial launch.
