Cypriot mobile operator Cyta (Cytamobile-Vodafone) has announced the completion of the deployment phase of its 5G mobile network, thus claiming that Cyprus is the first country in the EU to have reached 100% 5G population coverage. The announcement came after the network reached the village of Sykopetra in Pitsilia, the sole location in Cyprus without 5G connectivity.
TeleGeography notes that Cyta launched 5G services capable of providing speeds of 1Gbps in February 2021, with a population footprint of 70% at launch.
