Deutsche Telekom and its Greek subsidiary OTE have resumed efforts to find a buyer for Telekom Romania Mobile Communications, their mobile operation in Romania. Quoting unnamed sources, Ziarul Financiar reports the two companies formed a dedicated mergers and acquisitions team earlier this year to submit presentation documents to potential buyers, with the company said to be targeting investment funds and regional players in the telecom industry.
OTE owns almost 100% of the company following its purchase last year of the 30% stake held by Telekom Romania Communications. This divestment was a condition for Orange Romania’s EUR296 million (USD311 million) acquisition of a controlling 54% stake in the incumbent fixed line operator (since renamed Orange Romania Communications) from the Greek telco last September.
